Mad as Hell

Question:

I just tried to get my fioricet rx refilled, 2 days earlier than what my HMO dictates.  The pharmacist graciously gave me 8 pills to last through the weekend (I take 3 to 4 at a time).  The pharmacist plans to call the university that prescribes my meds. on Monday.

Snipped: Unfortunately, I’ve been in situation more times than I care to remember.  I have learned no matter how much pain I’m in, I DO NOT ask for an early refill.  Consider yourself lucky the pharmacist took pity on you, and gave you a few for the weekend.  My pharmacist is a nice guy, but he ain’t that nice! Mary

You should have seen the look on their face when I told them that my neurologist had retired and moved to Spain.  I swear it’s the truth. I have yet to find a new doc.  So now, not only do they think that I’m at addict, but also a liar.  Oh, well!  I have another script for Fioricet that I can take to another drug store!  Isn’t it a shame that we, law-abiding, decent citizens are treated like criminals. I swear to all of you out there with similar problems, that if I become an attorney, I will fight for change.  Don’t worry, I don’t plan to be a politician and this is not a political ad.  I will fight with everything I have against the AMA.  I have been a nurse for over 10 years and I only know of ONE compassionate and ethical doctor.  Unfortunately, he’s dead. Patients with migraines or chronic pain are in strong need of patient advocates in this country.  If you can wait 3 years, I’ll be your biggest fighter for justice and ethical, humane treatment.  As it stands for me now, I plan to move to the state in which I plan to attend law school.  That state is more liberal.  Hang in there guys.  The AMA can’t rule forever.

Hey, Dude.  You are experiencing the classic symptoms of rebound headaches caused by taking your med. too often.  Have your new doc detox you off of the stuff.
